Saturday is ANU Open Day

The Cafe will be open from 10am – 2pm on Saturday to serve the thirsty throngs attending the ANU Open Day. The Shop will be open normal hours, 10am – 4pm. If you’re out and about, pop in for a coffee and a shop. We look forward to seeing you.

Hot Lunches Are On Four Days Per Week

(Sometimes with Live Music)

Hot lunches are served at the Food Co-op Shop & Cafe four days per week, Tuesdays through Fridays, from 12p-2p. Hot lunches are $6 for the general public and $5 for members and students. A limited quantity is cooked, so come in early to ensure you get a feed. The past few weeks have brought out a jam session during Friday’s lunch, and last week, we had live music during Thursday’s lunch as well. You never know what you may encounter when you come to the Food Co-op Shop & Cafe for lunch.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with food preparation, service, and clean up, so email us if you are keen and get a free feed for your efforts. We are specifically looking for volunteers to help clean up from 2pm-3pm Tuesday-Friday.

Get Involved…

There are always heaps of projects around the Food Co-op Shop for which you can volunteer. Email us to find out more, and remember volunteering one hour per month entitles you to a month long 20% discount. We are currently looking for:

  • Someone to help us on Monday afternoons with our fresh produce delivery & veggie box packing in an ongoing capacity as support to our existing stock team

  • Someone to help with clean up after our weekday lunches between 2-3pm Tuesday through Friday

  • Anyone who may have a fully functional electric oven/stove to donate

  • An electrician who could install an oven/stove

  • Donations of glass jars and bottles with sealable lids.

Email us if you are keen.

Get Your Garden Growing

The Dirty Beanstalk is selling seeds for $3 per packet at the Food Co-op Shop & Cafe to raise funds for the their many gardening projects including their ongoing work with a number of community gardens around town. The current stock of seeds should be planted now, either directly into your garden, or in punnets under cover. If you are interested in sustainable farming, eating & cooking from farm to table, or simply like to play with dirt, contact the Dirty Beanstalk to find out more.

Stay warm and cosy,
-The Food Co-op Team!
