A $5 Organic Lunch in Civic?

Our wholesome and delicious lunches are available at the co-op every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday for the next 2 weeks before we take a break for the Uni exam period. Be sure to come close to midday to avoid disappointment, as we often sell out.

Loving Earth Chocolate
Did you know that the co-op has restocked its variety of the well renowned “Loving Earth” brand of chocolates?

We have also added 2 exciting new flavours to our range: “Organic Raw Coconut Mylk” and “Organic Orange & Gubinge [google it] Raw Dark”. All our 100g Loving Earth chocolate blocks are priced at $8.40 (that’s only $6.70 if you’re a working member). We have also restocked popular Loving Earth Brazil Nut Butter… just $10.50 for a 175g jar – our apologies that we were out of stock for so long!

Hoping you are all keeping warm,

Tip Run
While we do our best in trying and keep the co-op’s contribution to landfill to a minimum, we’re wondering if anyone would be able to help us take a load of “stuff” to the “recycling facility”. If you have a ute, truck or trailer and a couple of hours to spare, please send us an email at food.coop.shop@gmail.com.

Wishing you more of that!

Roast pumpkin and chickpea salad
You say goodbye, I say hello
It’s time to say goodbye to two of our wonderful managers – Emily Chapman-Searle and Jono Crane and to welcome three newly arrived managers – Liam Lilly, Petra Miletic and Jamie Kirby.
On behalf of the Co-op, we (the Management Collective)  want to say a HUGE thank you to Emily and Jono (and more recently Liam) who stepped in to fill the manager positions for the past six months or so. It has been Em, Jono and Liam’s ongoing commitment to the Co-op, and their attention to staff, members and customers that has made the Co-op such a wonderful and welcoming place to be. They have worked extremely hard to help improve the Co-op’s services to its wonderfully growing member base.To list just a very few of the amazing things they have done:
Jono developed a customised (no small feat!) point of sale system to help make the shopping easier and faster for all of you, helped bring our IT systems up to speed, and more recently managed our incredibly diverse stock base.
Emily has brought to you these beautiful fresh-in emails every week, expanded our participation at various festivals and event hosting, managed the shop floor layout, and negotiated lots of behind the scenes things like service/utilities contracts.
Liam will continue on to work as the Coordinator/Volunteer Manager from now. He has been wonderful enough to step in and support Jono and Emily in the last month and has been a pivotal force in delivering our monthly acoustic soup and coop lunches.
Thank you so much to all three of you! We are so grateful for the work that you have done, much of it above and beyond the call of duty.
We’d like to extend a very warm welcome to Jamie and Petra. Petra has extensive experience with logistics management and will be taking on the role of Stock Manager. Jamie is a chef extraordinaire who hails originally from the US. He’ll be taking on the role of General Operations Manager.-Food Co-op Management Collective
And as always, if you’re interested in getting involved in the Co-op, drop us a line at food.coop.shop@gmail.com
Hope we’ll see you around the Co-op this week!

Come one, come all!

our theme for the evening:  M a g i c

Magic – does it exist? When have you experienced the magic of Santa, fairies, angels, dreams, drugs, spiritual encounters, random acts of kindness, or serendipity? Magic takes many forms. It arises in precious moments shared between children as they write letters to Santa. It arises in national achievements and international wonders shared among millions like the Olympics, and magical historical moments like when we sent men to the moon. Magic is a matter of interpretation and observation. Have you seenor felt magic recently? Where is the magic in your life?

Please join us for our first 2013 show , to share magical stories.

A big thanks to the folks at You Are Here and to all of you who came along and joined in! If you want to check out the photos from the events, check out the You Are Here facebook, or flickr pages.

Coordinators
So, you know what’s a great way to get involved at the Co-op? Becoming a coordinator! Coordinators are those fabulous folk who serve you when you buy your goodies, help you find your goodies in the shop, help out our volunteers and generally make the Co-op a friendly and functional place.

Management Collective recruitment
Dear members,

This is a call for interested people to nominate to fill several vacancies on the Food Co-op Management Committee (MC).

The Food Co-op has gone through a lot of changes in the last few years and with these changes have come new opportunities (such as the cafe) as well as challenges (accommodation costs). While the MC requires a diverse range of skills and interests, we are particularly interested in hearing from people with a background or interest in finance/accounting/business.

The MC meets fortnightly and is responsible for setting direction and policy for the co-op in consultation with managers, volunteers and the wider membership. If you are interested in joining the collective please send an email tofood.coop.shop@gmail.com introducing yourself, and include details of how you believe you could contribute to the Food Co-op’s future through joining the MC.

Thank you,
Food Co-op Management Collective

Hope you all have a great long weekend and we look forward to seeing you soon in our Co-op!
